When Karl Buckman, founder of Subliminal Subs, was attempting to come up with the perfect name for his business, it wasn't the long list of options that he got it from, but instead, the customers. As he was building his business under a previous name, he was continually hearing how people would suddenly get a craving for the food. Customers would literally get a craving, stop what they were doing, and go get a sub. One of his regular customers even came up with a tag line: "Not just a sandwich, it's an obsession!"
With the addition of the grill in August, 2009, even more people claimed they were getting sudden cravings for the Subliminal Subs. Now, when people tell Karl they have a sudden craving, he can tell them it's "Subliminal - You know you want one!"
