Del McCoury is bringing his legendary sound to the Old Rock House on Saturday, Sept. 1, as part of the Third Annual "Del Yeah" Weekend.
The one-day bluegrass festival is being held on both outdoor and indoor stages. The lineup features The Del McCoury Band, Emmitt-Nershi Band, The Infamous Stringdusters (late night), Mountain Sprout, The Harrick (late night), Cumberland Gap, and Elemental Shakedown.
For fifty years, Del’s music has defined authenticity for hard core bluegrass fans, as well as a growing number of fans among those only vaguely familiar with the genre. While the box set Celebrating 50 Years of Del McCoury, like its distilled companion, provides an opportunity to look back on a unique legacy, it’s also one that Del McCoury's rolling past with a wave and a grin and some of the best music he’s ever made.
That devotion translates to his live shows as well. Even though the re-recorded songs have been staples of the McCoury repertoire for years, Del’s insistence on devoting much of each show to taking requests from his extensive catalog has kept them fresh-and the result is a perfect combination of old and new.
